For a quester there has to be to be some enlightenment in their life and in the novel Inferno that is our friend Elizabeth Sinsky. She ultimately has to go to Istanbul as her finally destination and the reason she has to go there of course is to stop Zobrist's plan to release his plague. Sinsky faces many problems for one she holds the weight of the world on her shoulders knowing that she has to stop the plague. Also in the beginning of the novel she is tempted by Zobrist to help him, "Someone needs to fight this was, or this is our future. Mathematics guarantees it, Mankind is hovering now in a purgatory of procrastination and indecision and personal greed... but the rings of hell await, just beneath our feet, waiting to consume it all." Sinsky of course turns him down and the trial is concluded. Finally we have the real reason the quest was taken which is enlightenment. Her enlightenment is the realization that the population was growing out of control, ""Ms. Brooks, I may have disagreed with Bertrands methods, but his assessment of the state of the world is accurate. This planet is facing a serious overpopulation issue. If we manage to neutralize Bertrands methods virus without a viable alternate plan... we are simply back at square one."
